Why Eco: LEED & Tax Credits
EP Henry ECO™ Permeable Pavers Can Help Your Property Qualify for LEED® Program Tax Credits.
In many counties and municipalities, residential and commercial property owners can apply for a credit to their property taxes if they implement stormwater management techniques - such as permeable pavement constructed with EP Henry's line of ECO Pavers - that reduce the overall run-off of storm water on their property. To determine if your local government has a storm water management tax credit available, contact your city/county finance or planning and zoning offices.
EP Henry ECO Permeable Pavers Can Contribute to the LEED® for Homes Green Building Rating System Developed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) for the U.S. Department of Energy
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes
is an initiative designed to promote the transformation of the
mainstream building industry toward more sustainable
practices. By recognizing sustainable design and construction
in homes nationwide, LEED for Homes helps home builders
differentiate their homes as some of the best in their markets and
enables home buyers to more readily identify third-party verified
green homes. The LEED for Homes Rating System is part of the
comprehensive suite of LEED assessment tools offered by USGBC to
promote sustainable design, construction and operational practices
in buildings nationwide. A full description and additional
informational downloads can be accessed at www.usgbc.org/LEED.
Sustainable Sites (SS)
Water Efficiency (WE)
With their high rate of permeability, EP Henry's ECO Line can be used as part of a rainwater harvesting system by building a holding tank below the pavers to capture and store rainwater for future purposes such as irrigation. This may qualify for credit under WE 1.1.
Materials and Resources (MR)
MR 2.2 provides credit for use of products that were extracted, processed and manufactured within 500 miles of the qualifying home. The benefit under this credit is to minimize environmental impact related to shipping (gas, oil, etc.). EP Henry products are manufactured in 3 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic, using locally sourced materials.
